Wellspring of Great New Music
Over the last few weeks, some excellent albums have landed. Phoebe Bridgers, Lambchop, Hovvdy, and Christian Lee Hutson seem to all be working in adjacent veins rich with voice, mystery and quiet: micro-sonics. Phoebe and Christian are collaborators. She produced his album and he helped her write songs on Lost Weekend. The albums have a strong connection with the other. Lambchop has stripped it all back and returned to acoustic guitars, banjos, and added a bold choir throughout. Hovvdy has stepped further out into the light and expanded their sound. What a time to have ears!
