Mother Mary
I love that 2026 is the return of the chamber drama. A couple of characters in mostly a single space, digging into the marrow of a meaningful topic. This would pair nicely with the Invite. Both are interested in people and their thought processes and care a lot about cinema. Mother Mary is ambitious and visually interesting from the jump. Lowery is so good at leaning into bold choices and following them through. At a certain point I lost track of the stakes and the characters wants, but I was inside of the rhythm and the world, under its spell. Always so satisfying when a movie does that to me.
